This product is very good carpet cleaner.

Below is one of many users who love vax carpet cleaner

Got children? Buy one of these.......NOW!!!!,
15 Sep 2008

Bought one of these after using a relative's 5 year old Vax carpet cleaner. How technology has moved along, this unit is just fantastic!

With 2.5 year old twins ensuring that recurring juice, milk, milkshake, biscuits, cake and other random substances end up on the carpet it was time to invest in a good carpet cleaner.

This unit is great, took only 5 minutes to set up and put the hose, cable tidy clip in place and fill up with some warm water and cleaning solution.

The unit is loud and heavy (feels build to last and the 6 year warranty means Vax are confident in the build quality too), make no mistake! The suction is awesome, and the carpet is nearly dry when you're done - no more damp feet as you'd get with older models.

Now the tricky bit was always getting the fluff and hairs out of the nooks and crannies in the various plastic parts when you're done - not so with this model, the water reservoir and dirty water tank empty and clean effortlessly, and the main inlet where the dirty water is sucked in just needs to be run under a fast running tap to remove any debris. The longest time was taken in getting the fluff out of the scrubbing brushes - fill a sink and swoosh it about - there will be some plucking involved to get them 100% clean.

The unit comes with a second set of brushes for a hard floor, along with a squeegie attachment and hard small bottle of hard floor cleaner for the same application, and the hand held tool makes it great for cleaning the carpets in the car and household stairs - though the hose struggles to reach to the top and the unit is too large to perch on a step as you stretch to the higher steps.

Just remember to order some Ultra cleaning (carpet or hard floor) fluid when you order the unit - the supplied small bottles don't last too long!

Dyson DC25 Animal Vacuum Reviews (2)

Fantastic!, 28 Aug 2008

By
Rachielizzie (Merseyside, UK)

We've has a dyson for at least 5 years but it recently decided it had had enough and refused to work. With a Springer Spaniel in the house vacuuming is something that we do a lot of (at least once a day) and it can be difficult to pick up the hair from the carpet with some vacuums. The DC25 animal is fantastic. It picks the majority of the hairs up from the carpet on the first go and has drastically reduced the length of time that it takes us to vacuum the downstairs of the house. the ball makes it so easy to steer too and it's lighter and smaller than our previous Dyson, although it is just as sturdy. I would recommend this for anyone with a particularly messy pet.

VAX V-125 Carpet Washer Reviews (4)

Good stuff, 4 Feb 2009

VAX V-125 Carpet Washer is very good value considering it would cost at least that for professionals to come and clean even a modest house. VAX V-125 Carpet Washer is perfect for moving out of rented housing and fulfilling the contract! Firstly weight, people mention this a bit, the actual machine is not that heavy when empty, nothing more than a big upright vacuum. The weight comes once its loaded up with water, which is kind of unavoidable, a smaller tank would be a pain as you'd be refilling every feww mins. It is quite heavy when loaded up but nicely balanced and quite nimble on its wheels. The hand of VAX carpet cleaner held attachements are good quality, the upholstery one does spray a bit so you need to get used to its range. I also find that anything that need squeezing to release the cleaning stuff (also a steam cleaner) makes my hand and forearms hurt after a while (I'm not some athritic OAP either), maybe just me but bear in mind if you intend to use for upholstery/stairs a lot as could be an issue. In upright carpet cleaning mode machine is a breeze to use and does a brilliant job, couldn't be happier with it as results are great. The buckets of black gunk you throw away are real eye openers. Dry time for me in muggy sept weather was about 5-6 hours on a very thick pile carpet. Amazon price is pretty good as well. 5 stars all the way.

VAX V-125 Carpet Washer Reviews (2)

I found this VAX V-125 carpet washer's review from amazon.co.uk.

How is it good carpet cleaner!!

Excellent carpet washer, 14 Aug 2008

For many years, the only carpet washer I had was a Henry, one of those monsters with the face painted on the front. It was so messy to use and never seemed to get the carpet clean anyway, I eventually threw it out in disgust. I bought the Vax V-125 really just hoping it would just be a better cleaner but it was far more than that. I was thrilled with its performance, the carpets looked brand new after cleaning and the machine (once I had read the instructions!) was far easier to use with no mess. I thoroughly recommend this machine combined with the solution recommended by Vax - Vax Ultra, the solution is expensive but well worth the outlay.

Dyson DC25 Animal Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review (1)

By Mr. J. I purchased the VAX V-125 Carpet Washer for a specific purpose, which was to clean a flotex floor. I have to say it worked perfectly and brought the flotex back to its original colour, especially the walkways. I wanted to give it four because you will get niggles and I have used it on an very very old and well used Wilton. It needed a wash, it needed a new lease of life and I was hoping that would return. I think I was expecting too much. I got my colours back, it gave it some lease of life and maybe after a few more washes I could get that brand new carpet look... maybe I'm asking for too much. Overall though, VAX V-125 Carpet Washer makes you realise, Carpets do need a wash and you need a machine like this to do it. The durability, the quality, the unsurpassed cleaning power—Dyson’s vacuums are some of the very best that money can buy. However, as the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” Superior quality and cleaning power are not cheap. So why spend several hundred dollars on a Dyson vacuum cleaner when there are so many vacuums that are much cheaper? Is the Dyson really that much better? The short answer is—yes! Dyson vacuums produce a powerful suction that cleans the carpets all the way down to the backing. Unlike inexpensive vacuums that only pick up the surface dirt, Dyson vacuums remove the deep-down, hidden grit that settles between the carpet threads deep in the pile. This grit, if left behind, slowly grinds away at the carpet threads, reducing the life of the carpet. Ordinary vacuums simply cannot remove this deeply ingrained grit, but Dyson vacuum cleaners can do it with ease. You won’t believe it!Also, Dyson vacuum cleaners are durable. Made of a plastic so strong it is called “Liquid Steel,” Dyson vacuums are constructed with a long life of service in mind. That cheap vacuum might seem a better deal now, but will it still be around in ten years? Will it still have the same suction next year as it has today? With Dyson, the answers to those questions are—yes!
About the author:For more vacuum cleaner comparisons, please visit: Vacuum Cleaner Reviews a website that specializes in reviewing all brands of vacuum cleaners including buying a Dyson vacuum cleaner Article Source: http://www.Free-Articles-Zone.com

Tips for Carpet Cleaning

By Bobby Rai

An unbeaten carpet care program commences previous to installation and than keep on with the regular vacuuming, maintenance, clean-up and episodic renovation efforts. It calls for utmost care to shield it against wear and tear and the other hazards of every day use. Here are some implications for upholding the carpets:1. Vacuuming the carpet repeatedly with a strong suction, rotating brush and tight filter will reduce the soil buildup. 2. Examine the carpet before scrubbing, extracting or spotting for the fact that some carpets are very sensitive to acid type cleaners and lose their color in a great extent while other carpets are sensitive to harsh alkalis.3. Do not apply strong spotting agents if not required and always neutralize high alkaline or high acid cleaners after use. Make use of appropriate spotters starting with the mildest.4. Brushing the spot is not a solution for the cleaning. The correct method to do away with the spot is to rub it towards the middle and then compressing into the cloth by means of brush or the other tamping devices. 5. Increasing quantities beyond the recommended solution levels is not going to boost the cleaning efficiency. It will result in residual left which will lead to a rapid re-soiling that thorough vacuuming also can’t eradicate. So, take extreme care with the detergents.6. Since over wetting can cause brownout, adhesion problems and carpet shrinkage so take care not to make it over wet in a tremendous amount.7. After cleaning, please ensure your carpet is dried within twelve hours, otherwise mold or mildew may grow on them. Careful use of good ventilation, central heating and air conditioning systems will help the drying process. 8. The ideal way to get a fresh Chocolate Milk spill out of the light colored carpets is to use a product entitled--Simple Green (It is non-toxic). Your carpet will last for a length of time, if clean-up procedure is applied accurately. How often you clean up the carpet will depend on the weather and traffic. Usually, carpets in light traffic region should be cleaned once in a year; in normal traffic areas, once in six months and in heavy traffic areas almost certainly once in a month.
About the author:This article has been provided courtesy of Areal Building Services Inc, http://www.areal.ca/, a janitorial cleaning service company specializing in janitorial services, building cleaning maintenance services, property management services, and post construction cleaning services in Calgary, Edmonton for more than 20 years. A carpet looks so elegant and beautiful when it is first laid and it is very frustrating to see it start to lose its luster and get stained in no time.
Most houses are very busy with a high amount of foot traffic, kids and in some cases pets. Spots and stains will start to show on the carpet and it is important to be able to remove theses marks before the carpet is permanently damaged. It will save you thousands of dollars from replacing your carpets sooner than necessary.
If you try to find information about "do it yourself carpet cleaning" all you find is information about how much damage you can do and how a pro will do a much better job. This may be true but if you hire a pro every time the carpet needs cleaning or when there are spills and stains then you can go broke.
This article is meant to provide tips on carpet cleaning when you do it yourself and to help relieve any fears. Carpet cleaning is not rocket science and even if a pro has more experience there are lots of people who clean carpets for a living that do a lousy job. If you take some care and use a little common sense you can get great results and it makes more sense than leaving the marks on your carpet too long and taking a chance that the damage is permanent.
Take the time to buy a decent steam cleaner or carpet shampooer rather than renting because it is much more convenient and cost effective. Before you start, remove as much furniture as possible from the area to be cleaned. If you have to put the furniture back before the carpet is completely dry then make sure you put something under the legs to guard against marking the carpet.
Vacuum the area thoroughly going slow enough to get out as much dirt as possible. The more dirt removed by vacuuming means you will get better cleaning results. If you are using a steam cleaner make sure you don't leave too much water in the carpet. If you have to go over the carpet a couple of times the more water removed in this process will reduce drying times. If it takes too many hours to dry, your carpet can develop mold or mildew.
When using a shampoo process make sure that you remove as much residue as possible. If too much carpet cleaning residue is left in the carpet it can act like a dirt magnet and get your carpet dirty faster. One foolproof method is to use a carpet cleaner for either method that uses encapsulation technology. This means the dirt is removed from the carpet and any residue that is left behind will dry to a crystal and can be vacuumed out. Using this type of carpet cleaner will not get the carpet dirty faster and in most cases will leave your carpet cleaner.
After the cleaning process and the carpet is dry make sure you vacuum again. Replace the furniture and remember this is an excellent method to keep the carpets cleaner and you can still get a professional cleaning periodically.

About the Author:
I have been cleaning carpets for 30 years. In that time I have used many methods but I have found that I get the best results using encapsulation technology in the carpet cleaning systems. Depending on where the carpets are placed in your house, whether you use that room more than other are some factors that will determine how dirty your carpets get and how often they need cleaning. There are many ways to clean ones carpets but steam cleaning them is perhaps the best way of doing so.
Steam cleaning has to do with hot water being fed to a spray extraction tool or wand, coupled to a pump vacuum power unit. The cleaning solution is injected under pressure deep into the carpet through water jet nozzles.
As a result, the cleaning solution penetrates the carpet all the way down to the backing. This process loosens any embedded soil, remove oil and grease deposits, and get your carpet cleaner than it has ever been.
In order to steam clean ones carpets there is a need for a special piece of equipment. This piece of equipment is called the steam carpet cleaner. There are many different steam carpet cleaners available on the market, ranging from small portables to the large and very powerful truck mounted units. Even though these cleaners range in size they function based on the same principles.
There are however some differences between carpet cleaners. Models that are truck mounted are designed so that only the hose and the wand are taken into the area being cleaned. These units are very powerful, delivering hot water and generating a high vacuum recovery that can be powered by diesel fuel, gas, propane, or even by the motor of the truck.
Most carpet manufacturers, fiber producers, and professional cleaners endorse this process for removing soil from the carpet efficiently. With the present state of art equipment and technology, we are more than capable of high production and cleaning of carpet.
There are however some disadvantages when it comes to carpet cleaning. The major disadvantage is the fact that carpets in your home will take longer times to dry. Drying times can me minimized when the carpet cleaner is maintained properly and when the operator who cleans your carpets is properly trained.
Currently, there are two methods being used with steam carpet cleaning. The first method involves a traffic lane cleaner being sprayed onto the traffic lanes and then agitated into the fibers. The entire area is then cleaned by using a hot water extractor that has a cleaning solution being injected into the fibers through the wand. The second method involves a free rinse emulsifying pre-spray being sprayed onto the entire carpet, then agitated into the fibers.
If you have acquired a steam carpet cleaner you will find the following tips very helpful. The first thing one should do before you they go about steam cleaning carpets is to prepare the equipment and supplies. In a pump or power sprayer you should mix the free rinsing pre-spray. In the solution tank of the extractor, mix the rinsing agent.
The second thing you should keep in mind is preparing the area you will have to clean. Moving furniture and other items is important so that you will manage to clean every corner of the carpet.
Proper steam carpet cleaning will give you excellent results and very clean carpets. Keep in mind if done properly, carpet cleaning will eliminate all stains on your carpet. After all, there are many different types of cleaning machines, shampoos, and chemical products to choose from, so how can you know when you've picked the right ones? The answer to the dilemma for many people has proven to be portable cleaners which are both affordable and easy to use. These lightweight machines do a very effective job in cleaning carpets as long as you take the time to research what's available and choose one that will best meet your needs.
You may already have the most important carpet cleaning machine in your home, and that's a portable vacuum cleaner. By vacuuming at least once a week and doing a good, thorough job of it, you won't allow dirt to build up in carpet fibers. A build-up of dirt can damage the carpet permanently and make it look old and worn long before it should. Vacuums come in both upright and canister models. Uprights are a very popular choice with many people, because they aren't as hard on the back and legs. Canisters, on the other hand, are more convenient for people who live in homes where they have to vacuum stairs or to use in cars, motor homes, and other cramped spaces.
Cleaning/Extractors Can be Portable, Too
If you're looking at doing more than vacuuming your carpets, you should take a look at all of the different cleaning/extractor machines that are available today. Using one of these machines you'll be able to pull out deep-down dirt that your regular vacuum cleaner isn't able to reach. A cleaning/extractor sprays a chemical product deep into your carpet which will then dissolve dirt and other particles so that the machine can suck it up out of the carpet. These are the type of machines that many people rent from their local grocery store because it is a very cost-effective way to clean carpets..
Advantages of Steam Cleaning
The most effective type of portable carpet cleaner you can buy or rent is a steam cleaner. If you think you will be using the machine a lot, you might want to look into purchasing one. However, for most people who only clean carpets once or twice a year a rental, which won't cost nearly as much, works just fine.
Most companies that rent steam cleaners require you to use their products in them. Therefore, you need to make sure that the product is something that you want to use prior to renting the machine. A steam cleaner will do an excellent job of cleaning your carpets, but it will also leave moisture in the carpets which you'll need to work to dry. It's best when carpets are dried completely within 24 hours of cleaning them.

For more information visit: http://www.getyourcarpetclean.com
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Christopher_W_Smith

How To Choose Your Carpet Cleaner

by: Robert J Coghill

An incompetent firm can be worse than no cleaning firm at all, so choose your cleaner with care. Are you dealing with a professional or a guy in a pickup truck that works out of his garage? Obviously, the best recommendation for the perfect rug-cleaning firm would be satisfied neighbors and friends. They probably have done the due diligence required before they hired the firm that cleaned their carpeting. If you strike out with your neighbors and friends, ask a lot of questions of potential firms about price, workmanship, and also note how their business phone answers calls. If you get a voice mail machine responding to your call, it could be a one-man operation. That doesn’t mean that he is incompetent, but at least you have your guard up and can ask the right kind of questions that will result in a knowledgeable decision on your part. Here are some things that can separate the good from the not-so-good firms: · Ask if your cleaner provides a written workmanship guarantee. Will they perform another cleaning if you are unhappy with the job? · Ask the firm for an in-home estimate. If they offer an estimate over the phone, how can they tell how much spotting is required or if there are unusual requirements to be concerned about? Judge how candid your estimator is when he arrives on site. This can be a good clue concerning their integrity. · Beware of additional costs for soil retardants and deodorizes. You my find that some firms include these in their basic costs, while others will want more than you think it is worth. · Ask for a quote on a square foot basis rather than a per room basis. Your 15 X 20 foot living room simply has to cost more to clean than a 10 X 15 foot living room in another house. A quote per room does not allow for these differences. · Carpeted steps could be a determinant in the price you pay with different firms. This is another good reason for an in-home estimate. There are different cleaning methods used of carpeting. Make sure you are comparing prices for the same type of cleaning method. The methods are shown below. Get some knowledge about these various types before you start shopping. · Shampooing · Hot water extraction · Combination shampooing and hot water extraction · Dry Compounds · Foams Hopefully, this article will benefit you in your choice of the cleaning firm you eventually use in your home.
About The Author
Robert J Coghill has always had an intense interest in consumer information topics. There have been a lot of advances in vacuum cleaners over the years so it’s hard to buy one that’s bad or you’d be unhappy with. There are quite a few things to look for before you buy an upright or canister vacuum cleaner.Metal components in a vacuum cleaner are better than plastic but will make the unit much heavier. Bagless models use a series of filters to trap dirt in a dust cup while allowing air to pass through the machine; however, they can be very messy to empty. A good vacuum cleaner should cost nothing to maintain. There are no standards set for sealed models. You want to make sure to get a vacuum designed for your mixture of carpeting and hard flooring. The vacuum industry is making great strides in making powerful vacuum cleaners that weigh much less.
It’s important to find out exactly what kind of maintenance your new vacuum cleaner will need. Lower end uprights may have headlamps and/or bumper protection for your furniture. A vacuum with a bag will keep the air you breathe free of dust, allergens, pollen, smoke particles, and other chemicals and pollutants found in household air, IF it doesn’t get clogged.
Do you really need a deluxe model? In the lower-end of uprights you will find a few models that have an additional feature, like bagless models or models with bags and a full bag indicator light. Consider where the vacuum cleaner will be stored to make sure it will fit the space.
Find out the air watts to get a good indication of its suction power. Once you feel fully informed, if you can, go to a local store to get a look at those you’ve picked and try them out. If you plan to buy online you can still try out vacuum cleaners at your local vacuum cleaner dealers and stores that carry vacuum cleaners. Find out how much common replacement parts will cost. Find out how often belts, filters, and other items will need to be cleaned and/or replaced. You’ll need to decide whether you want a bag or a bagless vacuum.
Canister vacuum cleaners that have onboard tool storage make tools handy to reach. Higher priced uprights have a wider cleaning path, possibly dirt sensors, and some will be self-propelled; they may have pre-motor filters to protect the motor from damage too. Find the extra tools and features you need, and forget about the ones you don’t.
HEPA type or HEPA-like filters may be made in similar ways to true HEPA filters and may resemble them but do not have to meet the same standards as true or absolute HEPA filters. True or absolute HEPA filters must pass a strict test to be considered HEPA worthy. Check out the vacuums with the patented internal filtration system. Look for the serial number and test results that are printed on true or absolute HEPA filters; make sure that the test results at .3 microns are 99.97 percent or above.
HEPA filters trap small particles that may cause respiratory and other problems for asthma and allergy sufferers and others with health problems. There are two different categories of HEPA filters that can make understanding the abilities of your filter confusing. And they are ever so comfy on the feet! You don't want to see your investment get ruined by dirt, oily soil, and stains that can wear your carpet down and make it look and smell much older than it really is. So be sure to use carpet cleaning equipment to care for your rugs.
I'm sure you'd rather have your carpet looking and smelling clean and fresh than looking old and smelling bad. A bad smelling carpet can be the result of cooking odors, pet odors but it can also come from normal every day dirt and grime. Carpet cleaning equipment can keep your carpets looking like new.
When one hears the word carpet cleaning equipment we automatically think of the big steam cleaners that are used to shampoo the rugs, but your regular old vacuum is part of your carpet cleaning equipment armor.
So you can fully understand why having a good quality vacuum is so very important. Your vacuum is your first defense against removing dry soil, dirt, and grime. Things like mud, food crumbs, and pet hair. A good vacuum will get deep into the carpet and draw out more of this debris so it can't abrade and wear your carpet.
Of course there is more to keeping your carpets clean than cleaning with your vacuum. You'll need to use some type of carpet cleaner to remove oily sticky soiling, as well as odors. Oil deposits if left in the carpet will eventually cause decay in your rug. If your carpet is light tones these oil deposits will quickly make your rug look dull.
Great you know you need to shampoo your carpets but choosing from the wide array of carpet cleaning equipment on the market can be mind boggling. So make sure you do some research . Not all equipment is created equally.
Some systems are known for leaving a residue on the carpet which then compounds the problem because it attracts residue to it which totally defeats the original purpose of cleaning the carpet.
The how water extraction systems are the best choice when it comes removing oily soil grime. The machine sprays a solution of water and detergent into the carpet then uses a very powerful vacuum to suck the water and soil back up into the holding tank.
Steam cleaning is another option in carpet cleaning equipment. Steam is very good for getting into those tiny cracks and crevices that are usually difficult to reach. Steam cleaning is safe for your rugs, your drapery, and your furniture as long as it is done properly. Another benefit to steam cleaning is that there are no chemicals but you have a very sanitary clean because of the heat factor. It will clean dirt, kill parasites like carpet mites. A very safe process!
Steam carpet cleaning equipment works much like a boiler where the tank gets heated up to a very high temperature, around 250 F, and the vapor or steam is allowed to escape through the powerful jets. The vapor sanitizes and cleans the surface very quickly and very efficiently. . Your house will sparkle!
Another type of carpet cleaner is the dry steam cleaner which will work virtually in any area including fridge seals, patio doors, and of course your carpets. The newer models have a special self cleaning system, plus they heat in less than 30 seconds. They also come with a variety of pressure settings that allow you to change the speed and thus the type of cleaning.
You can either call the pros to come clean your carpets or you can rent a carpet cleaner. If your carpets are soiled really badly you are probably best off calling the pros as they have the expertise, the professional cleaning problems, and the heavy duty equipment to get your carpets clean. A professional cleaning will also give you more time between cleanings.
Whichever type of carpet cleaner you choose, and whether you do your carpets yourself or hire the pros it's important to use carpet cleaning equipment to care for your rugs. Regular cleaning will keep your carpets looking new and fresh and it will extend the life of the carpets.
About The Author
John Murray makes it easy to go through the carpet buying process and provides tips to keep your carpet lasting long. Keeping your carpet clean is important, for both health and cost effective reasons. Your health can be largely affected by dust mites and other allergens that make carpets their home, and it is more financially sound to keep your carpet clean than it is to purchase a new carpet. You should professionally clean your carpets every twelve to eighteen months, and vacuum every day or two to keep them from appearing dingy. There are many different ways to remove spots and odors from your carpets. To keep odors out of your carpet, periodically sprinkle baking soda on your carpets. The baking soda will remove a wide range of odors, from pet odors to body odor in carpets. When a spill occurs, it is important to spot clean it immediately. If you leave a spill on the carpet too long, it is more likely the stain will be permanent. Do not rub the stain too hard, as it will become more difficult to remove from the carpet but it could spread further and make a larger stain. Rubbing the stain too hard will also weaken the fibers of your carpet. It is best for the carpet if the spill is blotted so that there is no extra damage to the carpet. Use gentle cleansers such as shampoo or dish soap to remove stains. Club soda and vinegar also work well on carpet stains. There are many commercial spot cleaners on the market for residential carpet use. Before applying these cleaners to the carpet, choose an inconspicuous area of the carpet to test the cleanser. When you are spot cleaning spills, use white cloths or plain white paper towels so that you can monitor the amount of the stain that has been removed. For the more solid spills like pudding or peanut butter, scrape off the excess spill with a butter knife or similar object. Rinse the remaining part of the spill with warm water, and blot the rest of the spill out of the carpet. Solids that have dried on the carpet can be broken up and vacuumed out of the carpet. Any remaining stain from a dried solid spill can be rinsed and blotted out of the carpet. There are also several different carpet cleaning methods to keep your carpets clean. Developing a regular routine of cleaning your carpet is the best way of prolonging the looks of your carpet. The carpet shampoo method utilizes a foamy chemical that is scrubbed into the carpet. This cleaning solution binds with the dirt in the carpet. You apply the carpet shampoo to the carpet, allow it to attract the dirt and dry, and vacuum up the residue. Carpet shampooing is one option but because of the nature of detergents, it can allow the carpets to resoil easily. Another method is dry cleaning. Dry Cleaning uses a dry absorbent compound to attract dirt and debris, and what remains can be vacuumed away. This option is used for common maintenance in areas that get a lot of traffic but need to be used regularly, which means there is no drying time available for the carpet. The next method is called hot water extraction. Hot water extraction, commonly called steam cleaning, uses a fine spray mist of water to force out dirt, which quickly picked up by the vacuum part of the steam cleaner. You can perform hot water extraction on your own, or you can hire professionals to do the job for you. Either way, hot water extraction is the cleaning method almost all carpet manufacturers recommend for their carpets. The biggest downfall with this method is the drying time of the carpet. If the carpet is left too wet, it can form mold or mildewFor highly soiled carpets, there is the combination dry foam extraction method. This method begins with dry foam being applied to the carpet. A circular brush scrubs the carpet to loosen the dirt and soil. This solution is then extracted from the carpet leaving the carpet to dry very quickly. This method for heavy soil is the best removal option and the nice thing is that there is no residue left in the carpets to resoil quickly.Remember that a clean carpet can greatly enhance your indoor air quality. It will reduce the dust mites and other allergens in your home and maintain the beauty of your investment. This can ultimately save thousands in costly carpet replacement.
About the author:Jim Thornton has been cleaning carpets for many years. You still probably can't get your carpet as clean on your own as a professional carpet cleaner can. On the other hand, who needs perfection? The tips here will help you get that carpet clean enough.

Heat helps! Above 118 degrees fahrenheit, every 18 degrees higher changes chemical reactivity by 100%. Hot water extraction cleaning is done between 150 and 200 degrees. Is that too technical? The point is not only that hot water extraction, or "steam cleaning" is far superior to "dry cleaning," but that if you do it yourself, use heat!

Actually, there are three inter-related factors at work when you clean carpet. Heat, Dwell Time, and Agitation. To some extent, if you can't maximise one of them, you can make up for it with the others. In other words, if you can't get the cleaning solution hot enough, let it "dwell" a bit longer in the carpet, and scrub harder.

Secret Carpet Cleaning Tips

Detergent attracts dirt. This is why it's important to rinse out any cleaning solution thoroughly. This is another reason why hot water extraction gets carpet cleaner than the "dry" methods. The bottom line is that you need to rinse well when you clean carpet.

One way to clean stains is with the use of a shop-vac. No, you can't just suck out the stain, but you can repeatedly wash and rinse the area, and suck out the solution each time. This is a more effective method than blotting up the water with cloth, mostly because you won't have the patience to wash, rinse and extract enough times using paper towels or cloth.

Another little secret of the carpet cleaners is putting rugs outside and inside the front door. They can catch much of the dirt that people bring in on their feet. This isn't just about less vaccuuming, though. Dirt is like thousands of little blades that cut carpet fibers. The damaged carpet stains more easily then, and it's harder to remove the stains. An even better practice is to take off your shoes in the house.

Ready to clean? Vaccuum first. Then, if you use one of those portable machines, at least get the water as hot as you can. Dry the carpet quickly, using fans to move the air around. You can at least lengthen the time between expensive professional cleanings, by using these carpet cleaning tips.

Steve Gillman has worked in the carpet cleaning industry for years. Carpet Cleaning Equipment and method – The only type of carpet cleaner you should let in your house should be using the Truck mounted Hot Water Extraction (HWE) method. This really should be your first question, if the answer is “NO”…keep looking. Many Dallas Carpet Cleaning companies use this method…but not all, so make sure you ask. Shaw and Mohawk who combined manufacture over 2/3 of the world’s carpet recommend this method….which makes it easier for me to recommend this without looking like I am simply recommending the method our company happens to use.

The links to Shaw and Mohawk are at the end of the article

2. Carpet Cleaning Certification – Many Dallas Carpet Cleaners have plenty of real world experience, and unfortunately some of their success can be attributed to luck…..”as in” with no real formal in class training they should be lucky they have not ruined any carpet or upholstery. The two most recognized certifications are the IICRC and the RIA (formally the ASCR). This certification proves that the company has been through the coursework and passed exams pertaining to carpet cleaning, ask to see proof that the firm is certified or go to the IICRC web site at www.iicrc.org. This is another situation where the largest carpet manufacturers in the world are recommending the same thing that I recommend. As of January 2008, Shaw Carpet will require homeowners to prove they have had their carpets cleaned by IICRC certified cleaners in order to honor the Shaw warranty.

3. Carpet Cleaning Price – Choosing a Dallas Carpet Cleaner solely based on price will usually come back to haunt you. Not always because of poor quality…but because of the bait and switch. Any cleaner who is offering a $9.95/room special is going to take you to the cleaners…literally. There is not a company in the world who can keep their doors open only charging $9.95/room….it’s just not possible. The low price game can usually be taken out of the decision making equation if the consumer’s first question is question #1 in this article. The $9.95/room bait and switch companies almost NEVER have truck mounted hot water extraction equipment…they simply can’t afford it. Once a consumer starts to narrow down their IICRC certified cleaners that use hot water extraction equipment they will see the bait and switch companies out of the equation.

4. Carpet Cleaning Company, Insurance and Bonding – Make sure to ask if the company is insured and bonded, almost all Dallas Carpet Cleaning companies are going to say “YES”….so if you are really nervous….ask for a copy. Also keep in mind the difference in General Liability insurance and a Bond. The General Liability insurance will pay if a homeowner was to slip and fall because the carpets were over wetted, a bond will pay if the cleaner was to steal something from the house where they were working. Most homeowners are concerned about the insurance policy paying if the cleaner breaks something in the house, but not all general liability polices will pay in this instance….sometimes a separate endorsement is needed. Here is another scenario to REALLY keep in mind. Most of our insurance policies carry at least a $1000.00 deductible, so even if the cleaner has the offsite breakage endorsement, the policy is not going to pay up when the cleaner breaks a $900 vase. Homeowners really need to consider “Is this cleaner going to pay out of pocket if the $900 vase scenario happens?” Ask how long the cleaner has been in business, they will almost surely pay for any damages if they have been in business for a long time. My advice…put all your expensive breakable things in a place where even a careful carpet tech cannot accidentally break them.

5. Ask for your Professional Cleaners' references – Do a little homework on the company, ask for references (even ask for references in your neighborhood). Make sure the company is not only a member of the BBB, but also has a good record. There are Dallas Carpet Cleaning companies in our area that amaze me they are still in business, their record at the BBB is so bad it is obvious that all of their new clients do not check them out at www.bbb.org.

6. Cleaning Employees – Make sure to ask if the company uses employees or sub contractors. Ask if a uniformed employee in a lettered company truck will show up to clean your house. There are some Dallas carpet cleaning companies who are really not carpet cleaning companies…they are just marketing companies. They advertise, book the jobs….and sub it out to an independent carpet cleaner. In this situation the actual company who books the job has little if any control over the sub contractor entering your home, if a sub contractor breaks or steals something in your house you may have little recourse.

Links: Jeff Lester is a partner at a Dallas Carpet Cleaning company: The Steam Team.
